As an economy driven on convenience, recycling is not always the first thing that comes to mind when needing to dispose of furniture, clothing, household items, electronics, etc. As a company built on sustainability, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t educate ourselves and our readers on some of the best practices on getting rid of your unwanted goods.
The best and easiest way to recycle your goods is plain and simple, perfectly aligned with your reading of this blog post - USE US AT FLIPIT! Snap a few pictures and post your items knowing you're reaching your immediate local market, neighbors, and friends. Our resale component provides safe shopping, safe pickup, and safe dropoffs. Soon to come safe delivery options as well! Sit in the comfort of your home using just your phone to snap and upload pics, sit back, and watch FlipIt Denver do the rest!
Now if for some crazy reason your wifi or internet connection is not working to simply list your products on FlipIt or you just do not like making some extra cash, do not fret my friends, there are other ways. In my opinion probably requiring much more work, but hey, we’re not here to judge at FlipIt, we just want to support our community, stay clean, and thrive. With that being said, at the time of writing this blog post I’ve listed some of the top spots in the Denver metro area to recycle your products.
Blue Star Recyclers - 953 Decatur St, Denver, CO 80204
One of our favorites! You can recycle all your electronics here, as they also specialize in secure data device shredding and data wiping. They offer pickup services as well. BUT most importantly they are focused on helping our very own community here in Denver. The motto on their website specifically says, “Our core mission is recycling electronics and other materials to create local jobs for people with autism and other disAbilities.”
Oxford Recycling Inc. - 2400 W Oxford Ave, Sheridan, CO 80110
They accept more construction type materials such as concrete, asphalt, steel/rebar. Although this one does not directly pertain to household items or products that can be sold on FlipIt, we still wanted to provide you options for all forms of recycling. In the end, sustainability and helping our community is our main priority, so we felt it was important to give you an option if you are doing some type of home renovation. We do advise contacting them directly before taking items there to make sure they accept whatever it is you need to dispose of.
SMASHIT Breakroom - 790 W Evans Ave, Denver, CO 80223
This one is unique. Once again we do recommend going to their website or giving them a call to see everything they will accept. We do know they accept those old TV’s you do not know what to with, wooden furniture, washers and dryers, small household appliances, computers, and glassware.
Habitat For Humanity - 70 Rio Grande Blvd, Denver, CO 80223
Did you know they accept donations? A donation center that hits home as they strive to rehome your donated items for others in need and raise money to help repair and build homes all across the Denver metro area. They do have multiple locations around Denver so feel free to see if there is one in closer proximity for you. They accept pretty much anything and everything within reason. So if you’re looking to get rid of that refrigerator, they got you! Keep in mind for some items there may be a small fee due to battery disposals or things that include freon.
We hope this comes in handy for you and continues to help keep our beautiful city of Denver, clean for everyone to enjoy! If you come across any other suggestions for your favorite recycling places we would love to hear from you and highlight you in a future blog post for your suggestions. Together we can keep Denver pristine!
